Editorial policy
How we report, source and correct.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom. Advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners have no sight of stories before publication and no influence over what we cover.
Sourcing
We name sources wherever possible. Anonymity is granted when a source faces a real professional risk and the information is in the public interest, and the reason is explained in the story.
Live incidents
While an accident investigation is open we report only what investigators, operators and regulators have confirmed. We do not speculate about causes, and we do not publish images of casualties.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed. A note at the top of the story explains what changed and when. We do not silently delete stories.
Advertising and affiliate links
Advertisements are labelled. If a link earns us money, the story says so.
